Jangmi less than two days from Okinawa

Typhoon Jangmi is less than two days from Okinawa, and should be passing off to the west Monday evening (Okinawa time, Monday morning US time) before heading onward to swipe the rest of southern Japan, paralleling the coast of the main island:

Although a typhoon, Jangmi should be weakening as it approaches Okinawa. Tracking and guidance is pretty good:

However, it’s a big storm, so winds of minimal hurricane force should sweep across the entire island if the Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecast holds up. Here’s a more detailed view of the forecast track and expected impacts:

Damage should be relatively light as long as basic precautions are taken, and nothing breaks that shouldn’t. Kadena AB is in TCCOR3 …

Warning notice for Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness TCCOR 3, indicating possible destructive winds within 48 hours. It includes actions for all personnel and facility managers.

Short version is it’s a minimal typhoon, take is seriously but not a zomg panic if you are there or know someone stationed there.
