Still condition meh in the Atlantic; more rain for Philippines

Another brief update: the yellow blob of meh in the Atlantic is now an invest area, but still pretty much “meh”:

And NHC has no magic words. There are track models that may have some excited …

but those are tracking a disturbance, not an organized storm, and there isn’t much chance of this spinning up. Conditions are pretty hostile in that part of the Atlantic now, as seen in this wind shear map (shaded areas are especially unfriendly):

GFS isn’t even really forecasting much rain, here is the 5 day totals; most of the rain is to the south and east of the “system” …

The Pacific still has multiple storms, all seemingly either just past or headed towards the Philippines:

WP26, named Toraji (Nika in the Philippines) may dump another foot or even two on Luzon, so that means more flooding and mudslides to add to the already difficult conditions, as well as 130+ kph winds.
