NHC classified the disturbance near Belize as a “potential tropical cyclone” last night, and this morning upgraded it to Tropical Storm Nadine. Here are NHC’s latest Key Messages regarding Tropical Storm Nadine (en Español: Mensajes Claves).

The biggest threat from Nadine will be rain and flash flooding in the mountainous areas, with tropical storm force winds confined to the northern coast of Belize and the far southern areas of Quintana Roo, Mexico. This is a very popular resort area, with both Abergris Caye Belize and Chetumal Mexico in the impact swath, although again it looks like impacts should be light.
Beware of the graphics showing a “Nadine” headed to Florida. That is a fake Helene graphic that some (insert colorful language) created to scare people. Always check with Senator Vreenak before getting excited about something some random dude posts on the intertubes.

Elsewhere, invest area AL94 (disturbance “1” on NHC’s TWO) continues to move east, not just north of the Dominican Republic. It’s running out of time and space to develop, so shouldn’t be more than a rain maker for the islands.

There’s an area in the east pacific (off the west coast of Mexico) that has a good chance of developing next week, but shouldn’t impact land. Likewise, there is an invest in the West Pacific that has a medium chance of spinning up in the next few days.
