It’s foggy outside on the Georgia coast. But how do we know it’s foggy? Fortunately we have satellites to help out. Here is a product from the GOES satellite that looks at different temperatures and wavelengths, and color codes the clouds in a way that lets us figure out where fog and low clouds are likely. Here is the view of the southeast from just before dawn this morning; the dull aqua to gray is fog:

Of course, you could just look out the window, but that wouldn’t involve fancy computers and satellites 😛 … in any event, the fog is widespread and dense this morning, so be careful (and don’t use your high beams)!
