Wutip threatens Hainan (12 June 2025)

Wutip is a 92kph (50 knot, 58mph) sustained wind storm, so a “middle grade” tropical storm. It shouldn’t cause a lot of damage, although there are around 13 million people within the tropical storm wind swath.

Elsewhere, no active storms now that Barbara and Cosme have dissipated, but a new storm should spin up in the same general area in a day or two. Here’s the NHC outlook this morning:

The Frogmore Metroplex (coastal GA/SC) and rest of the Atlantic is currently safe from hurricanes for the next week or so, but Frogmore itself is trapped in a pattern of afternoon thunderstorms that looks to persist for another few days. Worth keeping your weather radio on in case something turns severe.
