Oscar over Eastern Cuba (Monday 21 Oct 2024)

Oscar is somewhat stalled over Eastern Cuba just north of Guantanamo Bay this morning, dumping a lot of rain in the mountains and causing flash flooding. Here are links to NHC’s Key Messages regarding Tropical Storm Oscar (en Español: Mensajes Claves).

The storm should begin to move northeastward today. The center of Oscar has been disrupted by the mountains so it might look like there is a sharp move as NHC reposition the center to wherever it reforms as Oscar moves offshore. Here is what the track (and warnings) look like as of the 5am advisory.

Very busy day with the big tree in our backyard being cleaned up and (hopefully) repaired, some of the side effects of Helene, but will post is something odd happens. There are still huge stacks of debris across the Savannah area. Which is a reminder that there is still a lot of far worse damage and consequences across the southeast, as the news cycle moves on don’t forget there is a lot of recovery ahead in North Carolina and Florida.
